We are proud to present our gallery collection of vintage and authentic Cassina Soriana chairs, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in the 1970s. Our latest addition is a set of dark green leather Vintage Soriana chairs, which are in outstanding condition. These chairs come from an important home and have not been restored, but are in great shape as is. The leather is soft, smooth, and clean, with a light patina that adds to the appeal of the chairs. The metal structure is also in excellent condition, making these Soriana lounge chairs a must-have for design lovers and interior designers alike. It's worth noting that Tobia Scarpa won the Compasso D'Oro in 1969 with this design, which was created to express both beauty and comfort by using a bundle of fabric or leather held by a single steel clamp.

Afra and Tobia Scarpa are renowned for their expertise in designing products ranging from home furniture to clothing. Their works are showcased in renowned museums across the USA and Europe, including the Moma and the Louvre. They have received several accolades, including the prestigious Italian "Compasso D'Oro" for their Soriana design and the International Forum Design award in 1992. Tobia's father, Carlo Scarpa, was also a celebrated architect and designer from the Mid-Century Period, and he collaborated with famous names such as the historic Venetian Murano glass company Venini, where Tobia also worked later on. Some of their notable works include the Coronado Sofa for B&B Italia (1966) and the Soriana Sofa for Cassina (1970). They also co-created the "Bastiano" sofa (1961) with Gavina and designed the "Papillona" and "Pierrot" lamps for Flos in 1977 and 1990. The Scarpa duo also made a name for themselves in the fashion industry, collaborating with fashion house Benetton. Their contributions have played a significant role in the history of Italian Design, and their works continue to thrive in the Mid-Century market.

We've had the pleasure of purchasing numerous Soriana sofas over the years, and we take great care to use only the finest materials available when reupholstering, including high-quality leather, boucle', and velvet. Our preferred leather is a natural, full-grain variety sourced from a top-tier Italian tannery. This type of leather is incredibly pliable and allows us to recreate the sofa's iconic folds with ease. We opt for all-natural leathers whenever possible, as they tend to be the softest and least treated. While they may display some natural imperfections, these are not considered defects and only add to the unique character of the piece. The leather presents a clear wax finish that brings out the rich hue of the color and textures throughout the hide, developing a beautiful patina over time that only enhances its natural appeal. Our upholsterers also work with 100% Italian cotton velvet and Italian boucle', ensuring the highest quality restoration possible. Please take a look at the accompanying photos of two Soriana Cassina Lounge Chairs we've recently restored, using the most luxurious aniline dark brown leather available.
